Nong Khai is a very cool city in Thailand on the border with Laos. The local food is amazing but spicey and the people are so friendly and real. There are bars, restaurants, clubs, markets, attractions and culture.
Arrived at 5am and the guesthouse was closed up but we telephoned and the English owner came from bed to let us into a room even though we had no reservation!
The garden is beautiful right next to the Mekong river with beautiful straw huts, hammocks and massage available.
The bedroom was clean with a good matress, clean linen and a private bathroom for 600 baht. They also had cheaper rooms with shared bathroom.
They have a great system where you do not have to pay for everything all the time but you just write in a book and pay for all when you leave. They also give you a free map and a lot of information!
There was western food and Thai food, very tasty sandwiches and good breakfast all day. This really was my favourite guesthouse so far from one month in Thailand.
