I enjoyed the location and the friendly staff, but the rooms themselves felt badly dated, even bearing in mind their period furnishings. The carpet was worn, the room dark, and there was no air conditioning (somewhat typical in SF), although there was a ceiling fan with wall control. My room (#600) was near the elevators, and I would *strongly suggest* you do what you can to avoid being near them. One of them makes noises that sound like a small freight train and the noise was clearly telegraphed into my bedroom. Valet parking took 45 min. to retrieve my car, but they use an outside service and long waits are not uncommon in this area of SF, where parking is scarce. Clift Hotel across the street is *much* better, but pricier.
